Ploughman’s Lunch


For the salad 

  • 350g closed-cup mushrooms, thickly sliced
  • Curly leaf lettuce, torn into small pieces
  • 2 sticks celery, chopped Celery leaves
  • 225g mature Cheddar cheese, cut into small chunks
  • 8 pickled onions, halved

For the dressing

  • 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp garlic wine vinegar

To serve

  • Crusty bread
  • Spiced fruit chutney


  1. Whisk ingredients for dressing together. 
  2. Put salad ingredients into a large salad bowl. Pour over dressing and toss together.
  3. Serve salad with slices of crusty bread and spiced fruit chutney.
